St Andrew's Day!

Scotland's Saltire
Sean's finding it a bit breezy in his kilt today but luckily he's got some porridge in his sporran to sustain him, and a snifter of Glenfiddich to keep his sgian-dubh warm.

Braveheart lives on!

Last Grand Prix of 2011

Ferrari Formula One
Although it's a Ferrari flag, it's flying to celebrate the Brazilian Grand Prix, and all the drivers competing today in Sao Paulo.

Sorry it's been quiet up the flag pole recently - it's been a longish spell of light or no winds!

Trafalgar Day!

France

White Ensign
The White Ensign is flown over the French Tricolour to commemorate this mighty feat of Mars, a Colossus of a  Victory, over a Redoubtable foe, where Nelson Dreadnought but instead attacked the Leviathan in Neptune’s realm many miles north of Africa, in a Formidable battle  during which Britannia and its Royal Sovereign roared their Defiance and turned from Defence to Revenge. A nation mourned its Intrepide Conqueror who had become a Heros like Ajax or Achille of legend.

The captured French and Spanish ships as well as disabled Royal Navy vessels struggled on in increasingly stormy conditions toward Gibraltar on the 22nd October 1805. Many prizes foundered or were scuttled en route, but Napoleon’s naval challenge was shattered and the threat of invasion averted.

Rule Britannia, Britannia rules the waves! SW

Sympathy for Wales

Wales - Owain Glendwr
Perhaps we should be flying it at half mast, but today's is the flag of Owain Glyndŵr, the last native Welshman to hold the title 'Prince of Wales'. And there's plenty of wails in the land of our fathers today, after their defeat 8-9 to France in the Rugby World Cup. Better luck next time lads. (Sean doesn't care - he's picked Australia in the office sweepstake.)

Welcome!

If you're a Golden Green resident or just passing by Sherenden Park, you may wonder what flag is flying over the green - and why it has been hoisted on any particular day. This is where you can find out! We don't just fly the Union flag but a wide range of international and commemorative flags, some of which might fox even a dedicated vexillologist (flag enthusiast).
